Thursday, April 10

It took me three months to save up 80% of the price of the engagement ring. It took me another six months to pay off the balance.

Followed by another three months to pay off the wedding band that Jenny at first assured me "didn't need diamonds in it..." If only.

It took our neighborhood jeweler less than a minute to saw right through both bands.

Note to all my female friends and readers out in cyberspace: if your fingers became so swollen at 3 months into your pregnancy that you can no longer wear your wedding ring, one month post-partum is not a sufficient amount of time for your fingers to return to normal size.

Jenny, as we were getting ready to head to Jonesboro, decided she would see how far she could get her ring on this week. (A process we have been engaged in since returning home from the hospital). Not long after it passed her knuckle, she realized she was in trouble. For the next 10 to 15 minutes we tried butter, windex, olive oil, ice, baby oil, and nothing - absolutely nothing - was going to make this thing budge.

She started losing feeling in her finger and it was beyond red. In a panic, we called Roberson's Jewelers around the corner from our house. They were closing in five minutes, but they said they would stay open for us.

Once we got inside, it took less than a minute to cut the ring off...and they didn't charge us anything. The jeweler politely suggested that Jenny wait a bit longer before coming back in to have it fixed...

Only in the Bunch house...
