Today I faxed a form to the editor of a local publication we use for advertising on a regular basis. The form was in regards to Vacation Bible School, and when asked what activities would be offered, I used the abbreviation REC.
Recreation. Come on, now. Recreation...doesn't everyone know that?
The more I thought about it, the more I realized...we have our own lanuage, with its own associated abbreviations.
My response to the editor is below. Verily I say to ye, "Enjoy." Be ye of Baptist or any other persuasion.
Recreation. You must not be Baptist.
Here's a list of other helpful hints for your use...if you need more help I could also find you a copy of the Baptist Faith and Message
FLC = Family Life Center (Aka GYM)
FH = Fellowship Hall (every Baptist Church has one of these)
FC = Fried Chicken
FF = Fish Fry
WR = Weekly Receipts
Ketchup Sunday = Folks are behind in their givin and we're a lettin em know
BS = Ain't your typical load of bull...just Bible Study
ICS = Ice Cream Social...with our without PS
PS = Pie Social
CG = Church Grounds
VBS = Vacation Bible School
"Join us for VBS kick-off immediately following BS. Registration begins with FC in the FH followed by REC in the FLC. Soon as we're finished we'll have an ICS with PS on the CG.
We're a hopin' that WR will increase during VBS if we don't have any ambulance fees or medical costs associated with REC. If our WR stay the same, then we'll have extended BS for the four weeks following VBS to inforce the need for weekly tithes, just before Ketchup Sunday which will be followed by FF and PS in the FH."

Bunnies, Bubbles, and Bears
Benjamin enjoyed going through his Easter basket last week. Too bad we were too worn out from the morning at church to get any pics of him in his Easter clothes. We're going to redo them one day this week when the giant scab from his most recent fall is gone.
Unwrapping an egg...
My thoughts exactly...
Ahhh, sweet chocolate bliss.
"Bunny Corn."
Seriously. A seven-dollar tube of Candy Corn. What was I smoking?
Another Easter Present...Fisher-Price Bubble-Blowing Lawnmower.
Daddy is so proud...
The lawn may be cut a bit uneven, but he's having fun!
Yesterday, we went to the Memphis Zoo with Jenny's sister and parents. We wanted to make a trial-run trip in her mom's new vehicle and see if we could all tolerate the "togetherness" for the day, and decide if we want to take one car or two to Florida. It worked really well...we're just going to have to come up with a solution for our luggage, ice cream maker, giant Razorback Tailgating tent and multiple box fans if we travel together. If you pass a shiny black Honda Pilot with fans on top, blades turning in the wind and a u-haul trailer shimmying around behind later this Summer, it's us!

How many shades of red hair, pink clothes, and eye wear can you get in one frame?
Checking out the birds in the indoor bird exhibit.
Pausing in the Farm Exhibit.
My two redheaded, beautiful, beautiful loves.
He has to smell all plants and trees. Bark included.
That sheep looks like Comet in the Santa Clause II
"Kissing" the sheep.
One of the Pandas in the China Exhibit.
I highly recommend a day trip to Memphis. Quite a nice zoo. And if you're heading back through Downtown, stop in at the BBQ Shop on Madison. Incredible.

Getting All Your Eggs in a Basket
It's funny to me that I have, in 31 years, never known of anything else made by the PAAS company. Really? Is egg dye that lucrative of an industry that you can sell a product used one day a year and stay afloat? Interesting.
Of course he had to put it in the Orange cup. He LOVES Orange.
Once the eggs were in their cups, he moved on to sticker play...
Basket Contents:
Russell-Stover Bunny (a must)
Chocolate-scented stuffed rabbit. Bear Holding Carrot.
Pirate Puppet. Pirate Potty Book. Elmo 123's.
Chocolate Eggs. Large Glitter-Filled Bouncy Ball.
Pastel Candy Corn.
Best of both worlds. Pirates, and Potty Training.

Hunting Wabbits
Blur alert! Jenny accidentally put the battery in the wrong slot, and it wouldn't focus fast enough, so we had to put it in manual focus...then Jenny forgot to adjust the focus. Oh well...such is our life.
Today was our annual Children's Celebration and Easter Egg Hunt at church. We had a great time with family, friends, and visitors who were at our church for the first time.
As always, Benjamin was in the thick of it.
The Punching Balloons from Oriental Trading were probably the biggest hits of the day.
Helping Ms. Terri with "Chunk-a-Duck," handing the ducks to the next player.
This particular player happens to be one of the sweetest kids I know, and
he asked Jesus into his heart just a couple of weeks ago.
Just in time for Easter.
Just chillin' out. If he weren't leaning next to our nasty,
scuffed-up pull-out stage, it would be print worthy.
Not sure how Spencer wound up on the floor.
Maybe he was the result of a "punch" from the punching balloon.
Best friends Katie and Jenny, with future best buds Benjamin and Zach.
Proud Daddy...and thrilled that the event is nearing an end...
Beautiful, Blurry Mommy
Heading off to the hunt...hand in hand.
I'm told this is how Jenny and Katie always walked.
Something tells me this will be a short-lived thing for these two rough and tumble boys.
