You might think we're bad parents.
You might think we have a terror for a child and don't want to take pictures of him.
You might think we're watching too much TV.
Not true. We're not taking pictures of him or blogging about him simply because we're too busy enjoying him to pause and pick up the computer or grab the camera.
He is changing so much every day, and getting smarter by the minute. Here's a brief rundown of the top 10 things we've learned this summer.
1. Feeding the dogs. This is a new one. He can open the cabinet, open the storage container lid, grab the scoop, scoop up the food, and pour it in the dog bowls. Then he claps. Granted, we lose a lot between the cabinet and the bowl, but we're working on it.
2. Downloading Ringtones. In the past couple of weeks, Jenny has found him with one of our phones, once downloading a Chris Daughtry ringtone, once a Blackeyed Peas ringtone.
3. Recognizing that applying lotion in the daylight = pool. He starts laughing and screaming. And he claps.
4. Understanding "Ready to go?" We ask him, and he heads for the front door and turns the knob.
5. Saying "Hot Hot Hot" (Thanks to Grammy Bunch) when he's not supposed to touch something. Temperature has nothing to do with it. Then he claps.
6. Giving Eskimo kisses. And he claps.
7. Mastering Keyless Entry. We say "middle," he unlocks. We say "top," he locks. Then he claps.
8. Attempting to say touchdown. This started yesterday in Sunday School. Throw him a nerf football. It sounds something like "Tah-shee-dunks." Then he claps.
9. Heading to bed. If we start to think he's ready for bed, we say "Ready to go Night-Night?" He picks up Bunny, picks up and inserts Passy, and heads to his room. It seriously takes less than 5 minutes to get him in bed.
10. He claps. Did I mention that he claps after everything he does? No self-esteem issues here.

If You Don't Hear from Us for a While...
I spilled coffee on the Mac yesterday. Deep, gut-wrenching pain and tears followed.
It's amazing how fast your day can turn. One minute I was laughing at Ben chasing around Bailey with a Phillip's-head screwdriver (yes, I'm the Dad that lets my kid run with sharp objects...) and thinking how happy I was to be spending the morning at home while Jenny was at her weekly sewing lesson. The next minute, I was nauseated to the core.
I really think it may be Divine intervention that has now passed, but this morning, for about 4 hours, the computer came back on. I was able to back up all of the pics since Ben was born (we hadn't done this in quite a while), and pull off a few random documents that I might need.
As of now, it's once again not turning on.
Side note. Those of you who know me well know that I have a certain amount of pride that will prohibit me from ever shopping in a Big and Tall Men's store. But why can't they call them Big OR Tall? You can be one without the other. I have seldom found an XL in a Department store that will not fit, so I don't think I truly possess the need to shop at a place that sells sizes 3X-8X.
Just a thought.

Holiday Happenings
Here are a few pics from our long weekend with Grammy and Granddad Bunch...Enjoy!
The two Bunch grandbabies before we left for lunch on the 4th.
Grammy, Ben, Abby Lynn, and Granddad (who was so busy saying, "Say Cheese," that he forgot to do it himself...)
Ben and Grammy...
Tee-(nerf foot)Ball
Yes, he's advanced for his age. We're all aware of the situation...
While we waited on the Ice Cream to freeze, Abby Lynn and Uncle John played catch
and Benjamin swept the grass.
My wife's second peach masterpiece of the summer (the first was for Father's Day...)
A watched freezer never freezes...
Benjamin watched videos in the car while we waited on the fireworks to begin.
He was intrigued for about half a minute, then was ready to dance and run
around the parking lot (which, of course, we did not allow...such mean parents)
A moment of wrapped attention.
This great idea lasted for about 10 seconds...
Hope everyone had a safe and fun-filled weekend.
Have a great week.
